April 5 Update

 Hello!

I'm sending our update a day early to include information about our "Toy/Show and Tell Day" tomorrow that we earned! Students can bring in any 1 toy or other item that they want to play with and/or share and tell us about during our morning share time!

Thank you to the 3 chaperones we have for the zoo field trip. I would LOVE to have 1 more at minimum or 2 more ideally if possible to keep group sizes at 3-4 students. Please let me know if you would like to chaperone! It will be a fun day, I promise!!

The details for the zoo chaperone are as follows:

- Date: Thursday, May 9th

- Arrival Time: Chaperones will need to arrive at Hopewell by 9:30 am
- Conclusion: Chaperones will be back at the school at the conclusion of the field trip by 2:30 pm
- Price: $5 per chaperone (and will be $5 per student as well). If you have a zoo membership, you will be able to provide your zoo membership number from your membership card instead of paying the $5.
- Background Check: Chaperones must complete a required district volunteer background check, which takes no more than 5 minutes to complete but must be completed ASAP to get it processed in a timely manner. You can click here to complete the volunteer background check. 

As a chaperone you will be responsible for a few students while exploring the zoo so we ask that you not bring additional children (example: siblings) with you. With the group of children you are chaperoning you will walk with them around the zoo, carrying their lunches in a bag/backpack and check in with the whole class at appointed times. 

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, April 8!

This week in math, we focused on reading graphs. Today, we enjoyed some data collection with Mr. Crabtree's class! Each student came up with a question to ask and possible answers. Then we got together and asked our survey questions and collected tally marks. Tomorrow, we will turn our data into a bar graph!

 Hello! And just like that, it what feels like a blink of an eye, the year has come to an end!! Thank you from the very bottom of my heart for sharing your WONDERFUL kids with me this year. Jan 5 Update

Hello! Welcome back and off we go into our 2nd Semester together! Hope you had a happy and restful break! Didn't get many pictures in our very short week - just a 3D "Shape Hunt" today around the school (pictures below). Shapes are everywhere in our world! Yesterday, we talked about 2D Shapes (square, triangle, rectangle, circle), and then we introduced 3D Shapes today. We paid special attention today on the Sphere and the Cylinder. See if you can find some shapes as you are out and about! We will begin some winter testing this upcoming week. Our MAP Math test will be on Thurs, 1/11 and our MAP Reading test will be on Fri, 1/12. I will of course remind your child this is just 1 way we know "what you know" and "what you still need to know" so that I can team them better! Hello! Winter break is nearing! Today, I am sending home 2 math games that your students know how to play as well as a "winter break reading challenge" in case they would like to play those games with you and/or read with you over break since it is quickly approaching! As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns! Wendy Our future is bright! New shades from the Columbus Blue Jackets for doing our reading program! A big thank you to Mrs. Grimm, our weekly volunteer, who shared with us a book about Hanukkah as well as how she celebrates Hanukkah with her family. She also taught us how to play the Dreidel game, and everyone came home with the game piece today to play at home if interested! You just need coins, legos or some small item to use.
