Feb 9 Update

 Hello!

Another great week with some beautiful weather for fun outdoor recess!! I don't think next week will be so kind!

- Today (Fri, 2/9) is the last day to order yearbooks online! Order Yearbook Online Here!

- Friendship Party! (Wed, 2/14) All students are writing a friendship/kindness note to each other here in our classroom during writing and morning work, so everyone will have a bag of notes on Feb. 14th to enjoy! If your child also wants to bring in a traditional "valentine" to pass out on Feb. 14 to their classmates, they are welcome to do that, but it is optional.

We are finishing our exploration of landforms. Next week, we will make and paint salt dough maps of the various landforms that we learned! Here, students are working on their landform book.



Music class! Students chorally did rhythms of sixteenth notes, eighth notes, quarter notes and quarter rests! Impressive!!






Brain break on Thursday was some yoga! Students were really engaged.




I didn't get many content pictures. We continue to work on nonfiction in reading and writing and are experts at jumping on the number line by 5's and 10's in math after this week! In phonics 95, we have moved to 1 week per vowel studying the Long-Vowel Silent-E syllable pattern.

 Hello! And just like that, it what feels like a blink of an eye, the year has come to an end!! Thank you from the very bottom of my heart for sharing your WONDERFUL kids with me this year. Jan 5 Update

Hello! Welcome back and off we go into our 2nd Semester together! Hope you had a happy and restful break! Didn't get many pictures in our very short week - just a 3D "Shape Hunt" today around the school (pictures below). Shapes are everywhere in our world! Yesterday, we talked about 2D Shapes (square, triangle, rectangle, circle), and then we introduced 3D Shapes today. We paid special attention today on the Sphere and the Cylinder. See if you can find some shapes as you are out and about! We will begin some winter testing this upcoming week. Our MAP Math test will be on Thurs, 1/11 and our MAP Reading test will be on Fri, 1/12. I will of course remind your child this is just 1 way we know "what you know" and "what you still need to know" so that I can team them better! Hello! Winter break is nearing! Today, I am sending home 2 math games that your students know how to play as well as a "winter break reading challenge" in case they would like to play those games with you and/or read with you over break since it is quickly approaching! As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns! Wendy Our future is bright! New shades from the Columbus Blue Jackets for doing our reading program! A big thank you to Mrs. Grimm, our weekly volunteer, who shared with us a book about Hanukkah as well as how she celebrates Hanukkah with her family. She also taught us how to play the Dreidel game, and everyone came home with the game piece today to play at home if interested! You just need coins, legos or some small item to use.
