Feb 15 Update
Hello!
Fun week! Please see below for some landform salt dough creations, day of play fun and also our Friendship Party!
Friendly reminder that there is no school on Fri or Mon for students.
Here is the winter conference sign up. Conferences will be Feb 21 and Feb 22 and can be virtual or in person based on your preference.
I look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday!
Thanks,
Wendy
I was too busy to get pictures as we were making the salt dough and creating our landforms : ) but here is the finished project from Day 1!
In writing, we have each picked out a dog from the Franklin County Dog Shelter and will begin drawing the dog and writing our opinion on why the dog should be adopted! Here is our brainstorm on our 1st day of why dogs in general are GREAT! : ) Students may use some of these reasons or think of some of their own based on what their own assigned dog looks like! When we are finished, this project will go to the dog shelter to hang outside of the cages to help convince people to adopt!
Valentine bags! Filled with kindness notes from each other and a few goodies!
Having fun putting our treats in the bag!
Valentine coloring sheet for Feb 14th morning work
Feb 14th was also our "day of play!" So, all first graders gathered in the commons for an hour in the morning to PLAY! We rotated 3 times to games, building toys, activities, etc. that looked fun. It was great to play with all 1st graders! I tried to get a few pictures of each kiddo so you could see what they selected for their time playing.
Time to PAINT our landform projects!! These will come home today, but the students and I have talked about how they are delicate and may break en route and that we'll have to just be flexible if that happens. Still, they wanted to at least try to bring them home to show you! Look for rivers, valleys, hills, coast, lakes, volcanos, mountains, plains....LOTS of landforms!!
For our friendship party, we started with "Pin the Lips on Ms. Zimmerman." Earlier in the day, we learned about the traditional party game called Pin The Tail on the Donkey and then had FUN playing this silly version!
We also played Valentine bingo with bingo cards that we chose and made ourselves! Fun! PTO also provided us with a drink, popcorn and yummy oreos. We also had a little choice time to either play with playdoh or make a craft. I think they had fun at our Friendship Party to end our full day of excitement on Feb 14th!
