Nov 3 Update

 Hello!

I can't believe that we are heading into November already! Please see below for our learners in action!

As always, please let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks,

Wendy

On Monday, Miss Mayra, our Spanish Bilingual Aide, read a book on Dia de los Muertos. In the following pictures, the students are doing a craft afterward!

As part of our exploration this week, a student shared with us her family's Dia de Los Muertos Ofrenda.

Mrs. Medina is our Hopewell custodian. She came in as a special guest to read us a book in English and Spanish and talk about the interpreting work she did in a previous job in hospitals using her English and Spanish-speaking skills.

Music Class!

2 of our students here are leading in our learning of Spanish numbers and colors, which will culminate in a fun game of Bingo at the end of the week!

In math, we focused on creating and reading graphs. We had a lot of fun doing a Fall Scavenger Hunt around Hopewell and then making a graph to show our results! The above picture and next few pictures below show us hunting for our data to graph.

Students from Scioto High School came over to do a "Wax Museum" to share their research on important historical and popular figures. Our first graders asked thoughtful questions to get to know who they were and what their contribution and significance in history was.

Here are the 2 "callers" for Bingo - Dos es Azul! Siete es Rojo! We learned the Spanish words for many numbers and colors this week!
